In occasion of the World backgammon Championship, Molinari was a sponsor for the Women World Championship Tournament.

On May 4, during the exhibition’s opening day on the museum’s seventh floor—and with the full support of MAD’s board—Molinari and Davenport hosted a groundbreaking event to launch GalsWhoGammon, New York’s first all-women backgammon club.

In a specially designed space featuring backgammon tables and a giant 13-foot board handcrafted by the artist, 32 young women from across New York competed in team and solo matches.

The overall winner, Ma Lang, was awarded a custom backgammon-inspired piece of jewelry.

“More than a competition,” said Molinari, “the event was a celebration—an unforgettable moment in the world of backgammon. I mean, how often do you get to play on a life-sized board with a view of Central Park?”

Valeria Molinari was invited to take part in the 25th edition of MAD Jewellery, held from May 3 to 7 at the MAD Museum of Arts and Design, — the renowned contemporary jewelry exhibition that brought together 50 of the most innovative designers from 22 countries — with the debut of her Backgammon Jewellery Collection.

The collection reimagines the iconic elements of backgammon — checkers, triangles, and dice — as rings, earrings, brooches, necklaces, and cufflinks. It stood out for its original, elegant design, deeply rooted in Milanese aesthetics and well worth exploring in detail.

For the first time, a board game has been transformed into fine jewelry. Here, wearing jewelry becomes a playful act of creative expression: the human body becomes a game board, where magnetic triangles, dice, and checkers can be freely rearranged to create ever-changing compositions of shapes and colors.

“It was incredibly moving to see the surprise and delight in the eyes of visitors,” says Valeria Molinari. “Italian creativity is truly appreciated in New York, and I’m deeply honored by that.”
